GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) beat her own University of Southern Maine women's indoor track & field record in the shot put with a mark of 13.52m on Saturday at the USM Alumni Open. She also placed first in the weight throw with a mark of 15.39m which ties for seventh in program history with her own mark from January 11, 2025. Her shot put mark ranks third in NCAA Division III this season, while her weight throw distance ranks 18th

Barnes was one of six Huskies to win event titles at the meet. Sophomore
Saya Breiting-Brown (Portland, Maine/Deering) placed first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.77 seconds. Senior
Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) won the 200 meters with a time of 27.26 seconds. Freshman
Madi Sainis (Pierrefords, Quebec) was the top performer in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:12.24.

Seniors
Autumn Gerry (Winthrop, Maine) and
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) joined Barnes as Huskies to win field events. Gerry placed first in the high jump by clearing 1.52m. Reitchel cleared 3.35m to win the pole vault.

Track Event Highlights:
- Sophomore Khalysa Hammith (Windham, Maine) finished second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.37 seconds, a new personal-best and the sixth-best time in program history. Her time in the prelims was 7.40 seconds and is tied for 10th all time. She now ranks sixth in the event in program history.
- Sophomore Adria Otash (Berwick, Maine/Noble) finished second in the 55-meter hurdles at 9.83 seconds.
- Sophomore Meghan Przybilla (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) placed second in the 500 meters with a time of 1:31.72.
- Sophomore Mya Austin (Sumner, Maine/Buckfield) placed third in the 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.62 seconds. She also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.56 seconds and won her heat.
- Senior Anabel Melanson (West Warren, Mass./Quaboag) finished third in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:31.08.
- Freshman Florence Guimont (Boisbriand, Quebec/Laval Senior) placed third in the mile with a time of 5:50.86.
- Junior Allie Kimball (Winslow, Maine) placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.60, a new personal-best.
- Breiting-Brown placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.79 seconds in the prelims and then ran a time of 7.80 seconds in the finals.
- Freshman Aeryn Babson (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and junior Julia Szewc (Hermon, Maine) placed fifth and sixth in the 5000 meters with times of 20:40.99 and 20:47.44.
- Senior Whitney Davenport (Westbrook, Maine) placed fifth in the mile with a time of 6:02.09. Junior Elise Schultz (Windham, Maine) placed sixth at 6:28.65.
- Freshman Sienna Geretz (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) placed fifth in the 300 meters with a time of 47.20 seconds and was the top performer in her heat.
- The Huskies 4x400 relay team of Melanson, Sainis, Davenport and Przybilla ran a time of 4:38.29 to place second out of three times.

Field Event Highlights:
- Freshman Emma O'Brien (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 2.95m.
- Senior Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) recorded an indoor-best mark of 12.74m in the shot put to place second behind Barnes. The mark currently ranks 12th nationally.
- Hammith placed third in the long jump with a distance of 5.31m. Freshman Ava Gerrity (Windham, Maine) finished fifth with a mark of 4.80m.
- Senior Lizzie Asman (Marlborough, Mass./ Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter) placed ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 11.43m.

The Huskies return to action in 2026. The Huskies will send some athletes to the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition on January 7 before the bulk of the team opens 2026 at the USM Open II on January 10.
