GORHAM, Maine –Graduate student Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) and junior Maggie Jones (St. John's, Newfoundland/Mount Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's ice hockey team each earned weekly honors from the Little East Conference. Chagnon became the second Husky to earn the LEC Player of the Week award this season, while Jones repeated as the LEC Goaltender of the Week.
 
Chagnon scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Friday evening in a 2-1 win over Johnson & Wales and had an assist. Her goal came 1:49 into the extra period. The program-leader in career game-winning goals, four of those game-winners have come against the Wildcats, including three in overtime. Chagnon, who was named the New England Hockey Conference Player of the Week twice in her career, joins senior Sydnee Chaisson (Stratford, Prince Edward Island/Mount Academy) as Huskies to win the Player of the Week award during the inaugural season of LEC ice hockey.
 
Jones posted 48 saves, a 2.00 goals against average and a .923 save percentage to go with a 1-1 record in net for the Huskies. She made 16 saves in the win over Johnson & Wales on Friday night after starting the week with 32 saves in a 3-1 loss to a Bowdoin team that is receiving votes in the USCHO.com DIII Poll.
 
The Huskies enter the winter break with a record of 5-6 and are 4-2 in conference action. The season will resume with an away contest at the University of New England on January 3 at 3:00 pm.
