Reitchel and Przybilla Advance to Academic All-America Ballot

GORHAM, Maine  -  Six members of the 2025 Little East Conference Champion University of Southern Maine women's soccer team have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
 
Seniors Britney Hill (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke Academy), Devon Gatz (Millis, Mass.), Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) and Devan Sherry (Gorham, Maine/Waynflete) and sophomores Makyla Magid (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) and Meghan Przybilla (St. Anthony, Minn.) took the honors after distinguishing themselves both athletically and academically at the University of Southern Maine leading the Huskies to their fourth consecutive (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) conference title. Both Reitchel and Przybilla have advanced to the national ballot in consideration of Academic All-America honors.
 
To be eligible for the accolade, student-athletes must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games (or start in 66 percent of the team's games), must be at least a sophomore academically. Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as both an undergrad and graduate student-athlete. Student-athletes are nominated for the honor by their institution's Athletic Communications professionals.
 
A four-year member of the Huskies' defense, Hill served as one of the team's co-captains in 2025.  Playing in all 24 of the Huskies games with 21 starts, Hill played a critical role as center back leading Southern Maien to five shutouts, and scored a goal in the Huskies' 4-1 win over VTSU-Castleton.  A member of the US Army ROTC, Hill has helped the Huskies to 40 shutouts during her career. Playing in 83 career games with 40 starts, Hill has two goals and two assists for six points in her career.  Hill is an English major. 
 
Earning first team all-Little East Conference honors in 2025, Gatz finished her career as a two-time all-conference back, earning the honor (second team) as a rookie in 2022. A tenacious defender, Gatz played in all 24 games with 22 starts, and logged 1793 minutes and turned in 10 full-90 shifts, including a stellar 95-minute overtime performance in the LEC semifinals. Helping Southern Maine to five shutouts this season, Gatz finished with the second-most minutes played this season.  She scored her first career goal in a 5-1 win over Plymouth State. Gatz has played in 67 career games  (starting 46) with one goal and four assists. Gatz is a Women and Gender Studies major.
 
A two-time all-conference selection at forward (2023, 2025) and a 2023 United Soccer Coaches' All-Region (third team) pick, Reitchel helped power a Husky offense in her final season and finished with 10 goals and seven assists over 24 games in 2025. Scoring three game-winning goals this season, all three came against Little East Conference opponents, including winners against Eastern Connecticut (3-0) and Plymouth State (5-1).  Scoring her third game-winner of the season in a 4-2 win over UMass Boston in the quarterfinals of the LEC tournament, Reitchel finished her outstanding career third all-time in career points for the Huskies, Reitchel has 32 goals and 23 assists in 79 career games. A Linguistics major, Reitchel is now a two-time CSC Academic All-District student-athlete for the sport of soccer. An NCAA Division III All-American in track & field (Javelin), Reitchel has also earned the honor as a member of the Huskies' indoor & outdoor track and field teams.
 
Also a two-time all-conference selection, Magid is a repeat performer at midfield.  Becoming a regular starter in 2025, Magid played in all 24 of the Huskies games with 19 starts, totaling six goals and eight assists for 20 points, finishing second on the team in assists. Scoring four of her six goals against LEC opponents, Magid had back-to-back game-winning goals in the Huskies' Little East Conference Championship run, driving in Southern Maine's 3-2 overtime winner at Keene State in the conference semifinals, and scoring the first goal of the game in a 3-0 win over WestConn in the championship. In two seasons, Magid has played in 45 career games and has started in 21.  She has 12 goals and 15 assists in her career.  She is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences.
 
 
Named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 Little East Conference tournament, Przybilla is a two-time all-LEC selection, repeating as a second team pick in the Huskies' midfield. Playing in all 24 games and starting 23, Przybilla led the Huskies' offensive with 13 goals and 11 assists for 37 points, including three game-winning goals.  Recording 21 of her 37 points against conference opponents, Przybilla had one goal and three assists in the LEC tourney.  First in the Little East in assists, total goals and points, Przybilla is among the nation's leaders in the same statistics ranking 27th in points, 11th in assists and 47th in goals.  In 45 career games, Przybilla has 18 goals and 18 assists for 54 career points. Her 18 assists are currently tied for fourth in USM records, while her 54 points are ninth all-time. Przybilla is a Mechanical Engineering major.
 
Now a two-time all-LEC (2024, 2025) pick at defense, Sherry played as a part of the Huskies' defense Appearing in 24 games with 201starts, Sherry had a career-high three assist for the Huskies, all on set-piece plays.  A strong defender, Sherry helped USM record five wins by shutout in 2025.  Logging a team-high 1848 minutes in 2025, Sherry turned in 12 full-90 shifts, playing every minute of the Huskies' post-season run. With 39 career games as a Husky, Sherry has five career assists. Sherry is a Nursing major.
 
Designated Academic All-District student-athlete honorees are eligible for selection to the Academic All-America program. College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.  Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program, including USM sponsored sports field hockey, golf, ice hockey, and wrestling.


Making its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, Southern Maine is the back-to-back-to-back-to-back Little East Conference Tournament Champions (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025). During the last four seasons, Southern Maine has had a record of 59-20-9 overall and 24-3-5 in Little East Conference action.
