GORHAM, Maine - Seniors
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) and
Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) and freshman
Maddie Niles (Benton, Maine/Lawrence) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies field hockey team each earned weekly honors from the Little East Conference.
Boudreau, Folsom are earning weekly accolades as the Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time respectively, while Niles is now a two-time LEC Rookie of the Week.
Boudreau played all 184 minutes in USM's 2-1 week, recording a pair of defensive saves in the Huskies' victories. In a 3-2 overtime win over Saint Joseph's (Maine) Boudreau recorded a defensive save in the 25th-minute that kept the match scoreless at the time. In a 3-0 win at Worcester State, Boudreau helped USM earn the shutout win with her second defensive save of the week in the 33rd-minute.
Folsom was 2-1 with a 1.31 GAA and a .765 save percentage for the Huskies with a shutout. She made three saves in a 3-2 overtime win over Saint Joseph's (Maine), and then made six saves in a 3-0 win over Worcester for the shutout. Folsom made four saves in a 2-1 setback to LEC-rival Eastern Connecticut to cap the week.
Niles totaled four goals on eight shot attempts (five on-goal) in three games. She scored her first goal of the week in a 3-2 overtime win against Saint Joseph's College, and then scored twice in a 3-0 win at Worcester State. Niles recorded USM's lone goal in its 2-1 loss to Eastern Connecticut.
Southern Maine hosts UMaine Farmington on Tuesday, October 7 (4:00 pm) in its next contest and then is on the road for its next two. The Huskies will travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, October 11 (12:00 pm) and then head to Colby College on Sunday, October 12 (3:00 pm).
