GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year senior Jack Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine) has been chosen as captain of the University of Southern Maine men's cross country team for the 2024 season.
 
Pecoraro earned the first All-Little East Conference placement of his cross country career in 2023 by finishing 11th at the conference championship meet to earn a Second Team spot. He followed up his all-conference performance by running the fastest 8k time of his career at the 2023 NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships. His time of 26:18.4 ranked 45th at the event.
 
A double major in History and Management, Pecoraro is a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selection and was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2023 cross country season.
 
The first race of the season for Pecoraro and the Huskies is the Ron Ouellette Invitational hosted by the University of New England on Saturday, September 7.
