GORHAM, Maine –  Junior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) and freshman Makyla Magid (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's soccer team have each earned weekly honors from the Little East Conference. Reitchel was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Magid is earning Rookie of the Week honors.  Reitchel joins senior Catriona Gould (Freeport, Maine) in earning the Offensive Player of the Week award, while Magid is earning the first rookie honor of the season for Southern Maine.
 
A rookie forward, Magid made the most of her time off of the bench scoring a goal in each of the Huskies' contest in a 1-1 week. In 14 minutes of action against Colby, Magid scored the Huskies' second goal of the contest in the 80^th minute for her third goal of the season.   In a dominate 8-0 win over the University of Maine at Fort Kent, Magid played a career-high 45 minutes and notched her fourth goal of the season.  The Huskies' rookie has four goals on the season and is a three-way tie for second on the team in goals scored. Registering six shots in five games, each of Magid's attempts have been on frame.
 
Repeating the conference's offensive player of the Week, Reitchel scored four goals and had an assist in two games.  Reitchel scored the first goal of the game in a 3-2 loss against Colby to start the week, and then notched the first hat trick of her career with three goals and an assist in 26 minutes of action in an 8-0 win against UMFK.  A third team United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection in 2023, Reitchel has a team-leading seven goals this season to go along with three assists for 17 points. 
 
Southern Maine is 4-1 and has outscored its opponents 26-9. The Huskies are averaging 5.2 goals per game.  The Huskies host nationally-ranked Bowdoin on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
