GORHAM, Maine – Recently named ABCA All-Region selection for the 2024 season, sophomore
Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and junior
Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team each earned a spot on the 2024 d3baseball.com All-Region (Region 2) team. Douin was selected to the All-Region first team, while Poole was named to the third team.
Collecting numerous post-season accolades after a fantastic sophomore campaign, Douin is now a d3baseball.com All-Region and ABCA All-Region first team selection, the 2024 Little East Conference Player of the Year, and a first team All-LEC selection. Hitting a team-leading .371, Douin's 62 hits included 16 doubles, three triples and a LEC-best 13 home runs. Leading the Little East Conference in RBI with 67, Douin also led the conference in slugging percentage (.737), on-base + slugging percentage (1.176), RBI (67), doubles (16) and home runs (13).
Douin's outstanding offensive numbers put him among some of the best in the nation in NCAA Division III, as the Huskies sophomore was third in RBI, 16
th in total bases (123), 21
st in home runs, and 43
rd in slugging percentage. Douin is a two-time All-LEC performer, earning third team honors in 2023 as a rookie.
In two seasons, Douin has a career .335 batting average with 110 hits in 328 at bats. Driving in 98 runs in 78 games played, Douin has 25 doubles, seven triples and 18 home runs to his credit. An infielder defensively, playing both third and first base in his career, Douin has 241 putouts, and 95 assists for a career .925 fielding percentage.
In his second season with the Huskies, Poole earned first team All-Little East Conference honors as the Huskies' starting centerfielder. Hitting a strong .335 with 53 hits, Poole had 33 runs scored and 33 RBI, and had nine doubles, three triples and five home runs for a .525 slugging percentage. Poole's 53 hits were good for second on the team and ninth in the Little East Conference, while is 33 RBI are third on the team and 12
th in the Little East Conference. Defensively, Poole was a standout for USM making 87 putouts and one assist.
In two seasons at Southern Maine, Poole is hitting .321 (94-for-293) with 12 doubles, three triples and five home runs. He has 47 career RBI for Southern Maine. Defensively, Poole has 165 putouts and two assists for a career .994 fielding percentage.
