However, the Mules came right back in the bottom of the third to tie the game up with a two-run double down the left field line from Noah Reichman.
- A quiet fourth from the Huskies was followed by a five-run outburst from the Mules. Colby took a 9-4 lead on four hits, two hit batters, a walk, and a pair of wild pitches. Cole Tully had an RBI single for Colby, while Reichman drove in another pair of runs with a single up the middle.
- USM took two runs back in the top of the fifth as senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) and sophomore Chris Quigley each picked up an RBI. The Huskies scored both of their runs without registering a hit in the fifth to trail 9-6. USM drew three walks and two hit-by-pitches in the inning.
- The score remained unchanged through the seventh inning. In the top of the eight, USM chipped away, scoring another run to trail 9-7. Sophomore Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls) singled through the left side to start the inning and moved up to third on a pair of wild pitches.
