SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior
Liam Knight (Danbury, Conn.) wrestled his way to a sixth place finish to highlight a full day of competition at the 2024 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament hosted by Western New England University Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies' 22 wrestlers competing in the Futures Tournament combined for 48.5 points to place eighth out of 17 competing teams.

- Knight opened with a 1:53 win by fall over Johnson & Wales Mason Franklin, and finished his tournament earning three wins by fall. Knight also earned a 2:40 pin over Western New England's Nicholas Faraci and a 1:09 pin against Johnson & Wales Ryan O'Rourke
- Sophomore Aidan Robichaud (Coventry, Rhode Island) had a 3-2 day at 149 lbs. Earning two wins by major decision and a win by fall. Robichaud opened with an 11-1 major against Castleton's Tommy Krystopa, and pinned Bridgewater State's Colin Hassett in 1:16.

Southern Maine will compete at the 2024 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute beginning March 2. Nearly 200 wrestlers from 19 NCAA Division III wrestling programs will compete for the NCAA Regional Championship and berths into the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship. Individually, the top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will earn a spot in the National Championship which will be held March 15-16 at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
