BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Southern Maine golf team wrapped up the first round of the 2023 Bowdoin College Invitational in 19th place out of 22 teams. The Huskies shot 331 (+43) over the first 18 holes at the event hosted at Brunswick Golf Club.

Trinity College will enter the second round atop the team leaderboard with an aggregate score of three-over par (291). Amherst College (293, +5) is in second followed by New York University in third (296, +8). Three players tied for the lowest round one with Jorge Montero (NYU), Ty Baker (Endicott) and Cooper Yaccino (Trinity) all sitting three-under par (69).

Sophomores
Finnegan Sharpe (Durham, Maine/Freeport) and
Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) had the lowest first-round scores for the Huskies at 79 (+7) and are tied for 64th. Junior
Owen Doyle (Gardiner, Maine) shot nine-over par (81) and will enter the round two tied for 77th. Junior
Colin DeWitt (Newington, Conn.) finished 103rd in the first round at 92 (+20).
