WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Southern Maine golf team competed in the Thomas Invitational at Waterville Country Club on Sunday and placed fifth out of eight teams. Husson University (290, +10) took first place in the event followed by Colby College (312, +32) and Thomas College (323, +43). The Huskies had a score of 336 (+56).

Husson golfers took the top five spots on the individual leaderboard with medalist honors going to Will Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh shot one-over par at 71 to beat out three of his teammates who finished three-over par. Sophomore
Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) was the top finisher for the Huskies and tied for 14th. Farr carded an 80 (+10) on the day.

Finnegan Sharpe (Durham, Maine/Freeport) tied for 17th with a score of 83 (+13). Freshman
Jackson Horne (Woodsville, N.H.) fired an 85 (+15) to tie for 23rd. Junior
Colin DeWitt (Newington, Conn.) and senior
Jett Healy (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) rounded out the lineup for the Huskies with DeWitt placing 28th (88, +18) and Healy tying for 30th (90, +20).

The next event for the Huskies will be the two-day Bowdoin Invitational on September 23-24 at Brunswick Golf Club.
