Six Huskies Earn Krampade/AHCA All-American Scholar Recognition

GORHAM, Maine – Six members of the University of Southern Maine women's ice hockey team have been named to the 2022-23 Krampade/American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar team. To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester during the 2022-23 academic year and had to appear in 40% of the team's games with some exceptions being granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders.

Three of Southern Maine's six honorees were seniors with Jordan Colbert (Manomet, Mass.), Peyton Dukas (Fairfield, Vt.) and Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) each receiving the prestigious honor. Junior Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick) and sophomores Ellie Fredenburg (Cambridge, Mass.) and Amelie St-Amant (Cornwall, Ontario) rounded out the honorees for the Huskies. Dukas and Young previously earned All-American Scholar honors following the 2019-2020 academic year.

Colbert, an Elementary Education major and team captain, played in all 27 games for the Huskies and tied for second on the team in assists with eight. Dukas, who is also an Elementary Education major and a team captain, recorded a goal and an assist while playing in 25 games. Young also wore the captain's C on her sweater last season and the Environmental Science major tallied 10 points from three goals and seven assists.

McKim, a Health Sciences major, earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the 2022-23 academic year along with the New England Hockey Conference Goalie of the Year Award and First Team All-NEHC honors. Fredenburg, who is majoring in Biochemistry, backed up McKim and posted a 1-2 record in goal with three starts. St-Amant, a Health Sciences major, logged eight points from three goals and assists during the 2022-23 campaign.

On the ice, Southern Maine finished the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 14-12-1 and went 11-6-1 in NEHC play. The Huskies earned the number three seed in the NEHC tournament and defeated UMass Boston by a score of 3-1 in the quarterfinals before falling to Norwich 2-1 in the semifinals.
