GORHAM, Maine – Grace Lynch scored twice on the power play, including the game-winning goal with 1:29 left in the third period, to power the No. 2 seed UMass Boston Beacons to a 2-1 win over the No. 3 seed University of Southern Maine Huskies on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2026 Little East Conference Women's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament, presented by Townshend Hockey. The Huskies finish the season with a record of 11-15-1.
Graduate student
Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) scored Southern Maine's goal, her team-leading 13th of the season. The assists on the goal came from freshman
Gracelyn Koch (Maple Grove, New Brunswick) and sophomore
Sophia Capone (Cumberland, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School). Koch finishes an impressive rookie season with team-high 11 assists.
Junior
Maggie Jones (St. John's, Newfoundland/Mount Academy) stopped 34 shots in a superb effort between the pipes. 12 of her saves came with the Beacons on the power play.

How It Happened:
- Jones and Bosch each had perfect first period with 10 and eight saves, respectively as the teams ended the first 20 minutes of action tied at 0-0.
- Chagnon scored her 13th goal of the year 2:20 in the second period by deflecting the puck into the net on a 4-on-4 situation after Koch flung the puck towards the goal. Lynch tied the game 3:17 later on a power play score from Shea Nolan and Jenna Fitzsimmons.
- Lynch broke the tied with a wide-angle shot from near the right-side faceoff circle that found its way into the net. Mia Boyd and Maggie Lynch were credited with the assists.
- The Huskies pulled Jones with just over a minute left and goal a power play to increase their numbers advantage with 22 seconds left. Chagnon won the ensuring faceoff, but the puck was tied up in the corner costing them valuable seconds. Another penalty was called on the Beacons with two seconds left and a last-ditch effort shot by Chagnon was blocked by UMass Boston.

- The Huskies killed six penalties but the two power play goals by Lynch proved to be the difference. The Huskies went 0-for-7 on the power play
- UMass Boston led 36-23 in shots on goal and 36-17 in faceoff wins.
- Chagnon finishes her career with 59 goals and 30 assists for 89 points. She ranks second in program history in career goals, fourth in points and tied for 11th in assists. Her 113 games played are the most in program history.
- Senior Audrey Donahue (Timberlea, Nova Scotia/Kimball Union Academy) led the Huskies with three blocked shots.
