GORHAM, Maine – Five members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team have earned post-season honors from the Little East Conference following the conclusion of the 2023 season. Seniors

Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) and junior
Bryce Afthim (Windham, Maine) each earned All-LEC second team honors, while junior
Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and freshman
Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) earned third team honors.
A third team All-LEC outfielder in 2021, Vesosky is earning all-conference honors for the second time in his career in 2023. Repeating as a second team all-conference selection at catcher, Komulainen hit a team and career best .374 (43-for-115) with 11 doubles, two triples and two home runs. Scoring 30 runs, Komulainen had 25 RBI during the season and a slugging percentage of .557 and an on-base percentage of .459. A three-time All-Little East Conference pitcher with his selection to the 2023 team, Afthim made 11 appearances in 2023 with nine starts, finishing with a 5-3 record and a 2.42 earned run average. Firing a team-leading 67.0 innings, Afthim threw four complete games and was 4-0 when going the distance. Leading the Huskies' pitching staff in strikeouts, Afthim fanned 61 batters. Against LEC opponents, Afthim lowered his ERA to 1.47, and had complete game victories over UMass Dartmouth (6-4), UMass Boston (3-1) and Keene State (6-0). He had a season-high nine strikeouts in the win over UMass Boston.
Also a three-time All-LEC pick, Seymour is earning third team honors as a designated hitter. Seymour was a second team pick in 2022 at first base and a first team DH in 2021. Leading the Huskies with 32 RBI, 20 of Seymour's 37 hits on the season were for extra bases, including a team-best nine home runs. A power hitter throughout his career, Seymour's nine home runs in 2023 gives him 29 for his career and has him tied for second in the Huskies' career record books, and is three off of tying the record (32) held by Pete Misiaszek (1991-1994).
Putting together a solid season at third base in his rookie season, Douin earned third team honors after hitting .308 (48-for-156) with 25 runs scored and 31 RBI.
