Jake Craig (Skowhegan, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies wresting team each earned National Wrestling Coaches' Association Division III Scholar All-American honors.
To be eligible for the academic honor, nominees must have at least a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Peavey, Beebe, Frost and Craig are four of 369 individuals honored by the NWCA representing 88 institutions.
A three-year member of the Huskies squad, Beebe is a Business Management major and a two-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete Award recipient. Earning NWCA Scholar All-American honors for the first time, Beebe was 13-6 in 2022-23, including five wins by fall. At the 2023 NEWA Futures tournament, Beebe claimed third place at 197 lbs.
A two-time NCAA Division III Northeast All-Region wrestler at 149 lbs, Frost is earning NWCA Scholar All-American honors for the first times. Still fulfilling his general education requirements, Frost has not declared an academic major. Posting an outstanding 27-7 record in 2022-23, Frost placed fifth at the NCAA regional championship He has a career-record of 56-17.
Just the third freshman to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship in Southern Maine wrestling program history, Craig earned All-American honors to cap an outstanding rookie season, placing fourth at nationals. Craig punched his historic ticket to the championship event with a second place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at 125 lbs. Craig spent a majority of his rookie campaign nationally ranked in his weight division and completed the season with a remarkable 26-4 record, including six wins by fall, and five by technical fall. A Cyber Security major, Craig placed fourth nationally at the NCAA Championship.
One of the Huskies' co-captains, Peavey has earned the academic accolade from the NWCA for the fifth time. A three-time All-Region wrestler in the 285-pound weight class, Peavey claimed the 2023 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship in his weight division with a perfect 4-0 mark, including a stunning 29-second pin in the championship match. With his regional title secured, Peavey earned his second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship were he became the Huskies' sixth NCAA Division III All-American. Earning his undergraduate degree in Business Management and now pursuing a Master's degree in Leadership Studies, Peavey is a four-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete. In his final campaign, Peavey put together a dominant 2022-23, finishing with a record of 27-4, including 14 wins by fall.
