Lauziere Named Finalist for CCM/ACHA DIII Women’s Coach of the Year Award

GORHAM, Maine– University of Southern Maine Huskies women's ice hockey head coach John Lauziere was named a finalist for the 2021-2022 CCM and American College Hockey Association (ACHA) Division III Women's Coach of the Year Award. The ACHA made the announcement earlier this week.

Earlier in the season, Lauzier was named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Coach of the Year after leading the Huskies to a 15-9 overall record and a 12-6 conference record. This marks the first time since the 2002-2003 season that the Huskies hit the 15-win mark. With the stellar 12-6 conference record, the Huskies finished third in the NEHC and were the three seed going into the conference tournament.

Lauziere coached three Huskies to all-conference recognition this season, including Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year, Haley McKim (Moncton, NB/The Mount Academy), all-rookie team member Jess MacLean (Red Point, NS/Rankin School of the Narrows), and third team all-conference honoree Shannon Colbert (Manomet, Mass./The Tilton School). In his 16 seasons at the helm, Lauziere has mentored twelve players who have earned postseason honors.
