GORHAM, Maine  – Sophomore Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) placed first in the 149 pound bracket, and four other Huskies took a top-six finish as the University of Southern Maine Huskies wrestling team placed fourth out of 12 schools at the 2022 Roger Williams Invitational Saturday afternoon. 
 
Southern Maine scored 95 points to place fourth behind Castleton (165), Wisconsin-Eau Clair (150.5), and Johnson & Wales.  In addition to Frost, freshman Jake Craig had an outstanding tournament debut placing third at 125 pounds, while sophomore Anthony Mears (fifth) and junior Ethan Ford (fifth) and senior Jeremy Sendrowski (sixth) each earned a spot on the podium at 197, 133 and 157 pounds respectively. 
 
 
How It Happened:

• Frost went 5-0, opening his tournament with a 12-0 major decision win over Johnson and Wales' Matthew Garcia.  Frost continued to dominate his opponents winning by technical fall 16-1 (1:42) over Norwich's Sean Meese, and major decision against Wesleyan's Jack Wemmlinger 10-1.  In the semifinal, Frost advance to the championship bout downing Castleton's Elijah Cyr 12-1 before defeating Stevens Pasquale Vizzoni by decision 6-1 for first place.
• Placing third in his first intercollegiate invitational, Craig opened with a 16-0 (3:29) technical fall over JWU's Ryan O'Rourke. Dropping his second match 6-4 to Castleton's Gavin Bradley, Craig bounced back to win his next four matches to place.  He pinned Castleton's Robert Allcroft in 1:30, earned another win by technical fall 16-1 (2:46) over Norwich's Jabari Pinkney and then pinned Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Carter Shulz in 1:14 to advance to the third place match.  With third on the line, Craig got his revenge on Bradley, beating him by major decision 14-3.
• Ford went 4-2 including a pair of wins by fall en route to his fifth place finish, while Mears also went 4-2, including  a string of three straight to keep him in podium contention.  He placed fifth defeating Roger Williams' Hunter Rasmussen 11-5. 
• Sendrowski went 5-3 in his tournament day, earning three wins by fall, including a 50-second pin of Castleton's Jacob Caricato.
