Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) added another honor to his resume Tuesday (July 27) when he was named to NCAA Division III Baseball Academic All-America® second team, as selected by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Seymour becomes the second USM baseball player to receive Academic All-America® honors from CoSIDA, joining 2014 recipient Chris Bernard on USM's list of honorees. Seymour and softball standout
Ashley Tinsman (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) become the ninth and tenth USM student-athletes to receive Academic All-America® honors from CoSIDA since 2000. Tinsman was named to the NCAA Division III Softball Academic All-America® second team today.
To be nominated for CoSIDA's Academic All-District and Academic All-America® honors, the student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and be sophomore standing. Majoring in sports management, Seymour has a 3.71 GPA.

Among his many highlights during the season, Seymour tied the single-game record for home runs (3 vs. UMass Dartmouth on March 25) and doubles (3, on two occasions), and set the single-game mark for total bases (14).
Seymour previously received the Rookie of the Year award in the Little East Conference (LEC) and from D3baseball.com for the New England Region. He was also a first team All-Little East Conference pick, a first-team New England All-Region selection by the ABCA and D3baseball.com, and an ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-America second team selection.
During the season, Seymour was twice named the LEC Rookie of the Week. and the NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) Rookie of the Week on March 31. He was also one of six USM baseball players to be named to the Little East Conference Spring All-Academic Team.
