Seymour Named ABCA Division III Second Team All-American

Rookie C/DH Second Husky Freshman to Receive All-America Honor

            GORHAM, Maine – University of Southern Maine freshman catcher/designated hitter Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) became the 31st player in the history of the USM baseball program at receive ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American honors that were announced Thursday by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).  Seymour was named to the Division III All-America second team at designated hitter.
            Seymour is the just the second first-year USM player to receive ABCA All-American honors.  Former two-time All-American outfielder Tyler Delorme was the only previous first-year Husky to receive All-American honors in 2000.
            The left-handed hitting Seymour finished his first campaign with the Huskies batting .332 (61 for 184) with 19 doubles, a team-leading 14 home runs and 59 RBI.  Seymour also had a .409 on-base percentage and a .663 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.072.  Among his many highlights during the season, Seymour tied the single-game record for home runs (3 vs. UMass Dartmouth on March 25) and doubles (3, on two occasions), and set the single-game mark for total bases (14).
            Seymour previously received the Rookie of the Year award in the Little East Conference (LEC) and from D3baseball.com for the New England Region.  He was also first team all-conference in the LEC, and a first-team New England All-Region selection by the ABCA and D3baseball.com.
            During the season, he was twice named the LEC Rookie of the Week. and the NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) Rookie of the Week on March 31.
            The Huskies concluded the 2021 season with a 34-11 mark, including a 12-4 record in the Little East Conference regular season.  The Huskies won the LEC championship tournament taking the final two games of a best of three series against Eastern Connecticut State University and advanced to the title game of the NCAA Division III Baseball Hartford Regional.
