PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND – University of Southern Maine women's volleyball freshman setter/outside hitter
Phoebe Slovenski (Cape Neddick, Maine) was chosen as the Huskies selection to the Little East Conference Sportsmanship Team the league offices announced Thursday afternoon.
Despite appearing in only 16 matches for the navy and gold, Slovenski ranked second on the team in service aces (34) which ranked her 15th in the LEC. She also had a team-best 0.61 ace per set average, the third best mark in the conference. She also dished out 36 assists and chipped in two kills on offense adding 102 digs on the defensive side. In her first career contest, Slovenski dished out a team and career-high 17 assists in a season opening loss to Endicott (9/1/21). Her single game personal-best mark of 14 digs came at UMass-Dartmouth (10/2/21) and it was one of six double-digit dig contests. In her final match of the year, the 3-0 sweep of Mass. Maritime (10/2/21), Slovenski dropped in six service aces in the Husky victory.
Slovenski, an undeclared major will compete for the women's indoor/outdoor track & field teams this winter and spring. The Huskies finished the 2021 season 13-15, 2-6 LEC.
