Men's Cross Country 10th in USTFCCCA Regional Ranking

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine men's cross country team fell one position in regional rankings to become the tenth-ranked team in the week four edition of the 2021 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional poll that was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The navy and gold traveled to the Maine State Meet this past weekend and took home a fourth place finish, coming in behind Bates College, Colby College, and Bowdoin College, ranked second, third, and seventh in the region, respectively. Senior Masho Gebremikael (Portland, Maine/Deering) continued his strong season, placing 10th overall and covering the eight kilometers in 26:26.6

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) remained in the one spot, from which they have not moved all season, while Bates and Colby also maintained their posts from week three in the second and third spots. Only one other change appeared in the top ten as Brandeis University, a member of the University Athletic Association, moved from tenth up to eighth, shifting Suffolk down to ninth and the Huskies to tenth.

The Huskies will travel to Boston on October 16th to compete in the Suffolk University Invitational, where they will meet regionally ranked Colby, Bowdoin, Babson College, and Suffolk University.
