MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Senior Alex Kazmer (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had two goals and an assist as the undefeated Saint Anselm College Hawks defeated the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-2 in New England Hockey Conference action Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.

The win was the fourth straight for the Hawks who now stand 4-0 overall and in the league.  The Huskies, who got their first win of the season Friday night against St. Michael's College, fall to 1-3 overall and in conference play.

Kazmer assisted on the Hawks first goal of the game, and scored goals in the second and third periods.  Her second period power-play goal proved to be the game winner.

Rookie Jensen Hamblett (Colchester, Vt.) and junior Lynn Kozlowski (Stoneham, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist for the Huskies.  Rookie goalie Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.) stopped 30 shots.

The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the opening period as sophomore Ashley Moran (Woburn, Mass.) scored off Kazmer's assist at 5:35, and rookie Sara McNamara (Danbury, Conn.) doubled the lead at 10:36.

Hamblett's first collegiate goal, set up by Kozlowski at 6:32 of the second period, cut the margin in half.

Kazmer and junior Alison Butler (Danvers, Mass.) scored 36 seconds apart (17:03, 17:39) late in the second period to give Saint Anselm at 4-1 lead heading into the final period.

Kazmer netted her second goal of the game, and third of the season, with help from Moran and senior Halle Kent (Lake Placid, N.Y.) 25 seconds into the third period to make it 5-1.

Kozlowski scored her first goal of the season at 12:49, set up by Hamblett and junior Ally Vanidestine (Bangor, Maine).

Sophomore Paige Gorecki (Homer Glen, Ill.) tallied the final goal of the game, with assists from Butler and McNamara, with 3:33 remaining in the game.

Saint Anselm junior goalie Hannah Synnott (Montclair, N.J.) picked up her fourth win of the season making 11 saves.  Saint Anselm had a 36-13 advantage in shots on goal.

Southern Maine is back in action next Friday afternoon (4:00 p.m.) when it travels to Biddeford, Maine, for an NEHC game at the University of New England.  Saint Anselm is on the road for its next game, also on Friday, against the University of Massachusetts Boston.
