BIDDEFORD, Maine  – University of New England seniors Margaret Palmer (Scarborough, Maine) and Lindsey Monaco (Holyoke, Mass.) accounted for three goals and two assists to lead the Nor'easters to a 4-1 win over University of Southern Maine Huskies in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday evening at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

Extending its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1), UNE improves its overall record to 9-2-1.  Southern Maine falls to 2-11-1 suffering its seventh consecutive loss.

UNE put the game out of reach in the early going, scoring four times in the opening 33:18. The initial goal came in large part to a strong effort by first-year Morgan Rodway (Rangeley, Maine), who carried the ball down the left side before crossing to Palmer, who converted from close range. Monaco was credited with a secondary assist on the play.

UNE doubled its lead 10 minutes later when Monaco found first-year Becca Murphy (Durham, N.H.) for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Nor'easters would extend their lead to 4-0 in the 28th minute and 34th minutes when Monaco and Palmer went for back-to-back goals back -- each set-up by junior Tori Field (Woolwich, Maine).

Southern Maine avoided a shutout in the second half on a corner kick in the 63rd minute. Sophomore Analies Ross-Dyjak (Orono, Maine) started the set piece from the right corner, and first-year Dayna Staffiere (Merrimack, N.H.) converted a header to score her first collegiate goal.

For the game the Nor'easters had a commanding advantage in shots (24-3) and corner kicks (9-4).

UNE had three goalkeepers see action, with sophomore Brielle Robinson (Monson, Mass.) earning the win with a clean slate over the initial 36:57 of play.

Sophomore Marissa Temple (Grafton, Mass.) totaled nine stops for Southern Maine. 

Southern Maine remains on the road for its next contest travelling to Western Connecticut State University on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference match.  UNE hosts Nichols on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
