HENNIKER, N.H. -- Freshman Madyson Moore (Dubuque, Iowa) scored her second goal of the game with 2:36 remaining in the second sudden-death overtime period to give the third-seeded New England College Pilgrims a 3-2 victory over the sixth-seeded University of Southern Maine Huskies in a quarterfinal round game of the 2012 ECAC Women's East Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena.

            Moore tallied the game winner beating USM freshman goalie Liz Bergstrom (Chanhassen, Minn.) on a breakaway late on the second, 20-minute extra session.  Senior Kaleigh Costello (Hudson, N.H.) and junior Chelsie Boroski (Sterling Heights, Mich.) picked up the assists on the game-winning goal.  The goal was the seventh of the season for Moore.

            The victory moves the Pilgrims, unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1) and 11-12-3 overall, into next weekend's semifinal round against the second seed, Manhattanville College.  Manhattanville advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 win over seventh-seeded University of Massachusetts Boston.  The semifinals and championship game will be hosted by top-seeded Norwich University.

            The game was the longest (97:24) in the history of the USM women's ice hockey program surpassing the previous longest game of 79:30 played against NEC in the first round of the 2003 ECAC Women's East playoffs.  The game was the third overtime game in six playoff meetings between the two schools.  The Huskies concluded their season 7-15-4.

            Moore helped the Pilgrims grab a 1-0 lead just 2:08 into the game.  Sophomore Kristin Dehm (Milford, Conn.) netted a power-play goal, set up by Moore and sophomore Jamie Tabb (Holland, Mass.).

            Southern Maine equalized in the second period when sophomore Courtney White (Medford, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season midway through the period.  Senior Katie Paradis (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore Brittany Soar (Boxborough, Mass.) picked up the assists.  Paradis' assist was her 100th career point making her just the third player in the history of the program to reach the century mark.

            Heading into the final period of regulation tied 1-1, Moore gave the home side the advantage netting the Pilgrims' second power-play marker of the game at 9:30, assisted by Dehm and junior Alyssa Hoot (Waterville, Ohio).

            Senior Christen Hart (Saugus, Mass.) forced the game into overtime as she got the Huskies back even at 15:23 converting a pass from Paradis into her fourth goal of the season.  The assist moved Paradis into second place on the Huskies all-time scoring list passing Beth Fulton (1998-2002; 100 points).

            Junior goalie Kristen Conners (Weymouth, Mass.) earned the win for the Pilgrims stopping 45 shots.  Bergstrom, named to the ECAC Women's East All-Rookie Team this week, registered 34 saves.
