GORHAM, Maine -- Sophomore Caroline English (Dorchester, Mass.) fired in a rebound 12 seconds into overtime to give the College of the Holy Cross a 1-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine in an ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Women's East game Saturday afternoon at the USM Ice Arena.

The win was the fourth straight for the Crusaders, and improved their record to 8-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in league play.  The Huskies, winless in their last seven, slipped to 1-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in league games.

Off the faceoff to begin the five-minute overtime session, senior Emily Henry (Lumsden, Sask.) picked up the puck at her own blue and skated into the USM zone where her shot from the left wing circle was turned aside by USM rookie goaltender Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo.).  The rebound went right to English on the right side from where she buried a 20-foot shot to bring the game to a sudden conclusion.

Holy Cross senior goalie Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) stopped all 18 shots she faced to post her first shutout of the season.  Lee registered 28 stops for USM.

Southern Maine will play its final game of the semester on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.) when it travels to Plymouth State University.  Holy Cross will host Connecticut College on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.).
