GORHAM, Maine -- Freshman Sarah Moody (Scarborough, Maine) earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles to help the University of Southern Maine Huskies earn a 6-3 win over the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons in a Little East Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon.

            Moody helped kick-start a four-point rally for the Huskies, who swept the third through sixth singles points, en route to the win.  With the win, the Huskies finish the regular season 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Little East Conference.  UMass Boston is 7-8 overall and 2-6 in the Little East.

            The Huskies' win ensured them a spot in the Little East Conference Tournament Championship that begins on Tuesday.  Tournament pairings have yet to be announced by the conference office.

            The Huskies led the Beacons, 2-1, after the doubles points as freshmen Rachel Miller (Portland, Maine/Deering) and Emily Boutin (Old Town, Maine) and Moody and senior Erica Robertson (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) each earned 8-1 victories at second and third doubles.

            The Beacons won first and second singles to pull ahead of the Huskies.  UMB sophomore Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) earned a hard-fought point at first singles with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 victory over Miller.  In second singles, freshman Destanee Ringler (Scituate, Mass.) defeated USM junior Katelyn Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) 6-3, 6-3.

            Moody put the Huskies back on track defeating senior Brittany Engel (Freehold, N.J.) 6-3, 6-0 at third singles.  Sophomore Tegan Talbot (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) returned the Huskies to the lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at fourth singles against Beacon freshman MaKenna Hughes (Yarmouthport, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional).  Boutin and Robertson won the fifth and sixth singles points respectively by the scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively.
