GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore Lexi Hayward (Acton, Maine/Sanford) has been chosen as the captain for the 2026 University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's tennis team.
 
Hayward played in 11 matches last season and earned the first singles win of her career with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-2 win over her opponent from WestConn at No. 6 singles on September 20. Hayward is double-majoring in Marketing and Management, and was named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ("ITA") All-Academic Team last season.
 
The Huskies will be begin the season on Saturday at 1:00 pm against the University of New England at Gorham High School.
