Bri Townsend Named to NFHCA Watch List

Huskies Host University of Hartford on Saturday, September 5 (2:00 pm)

GORHAM, Maine –  Senior Bri Townsend (Newport, Maine/Nokomis) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' field hockey team has been named to the 2026 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Watch List.  The 2026 NFHCA Watchlist recognizes field hockey student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of achievement and are considered among those with strong potential for NFHCA All-Region and All-American consideration this season.
 
One of 204 Division III student-athletes named to the 2026 NFHCA Watch List, Townsend earned first team All-Little East Conference (LEC) honors in 2025. In her first season with the Huskies, Townsend made an immediate impact for the Huskies offensively with 12 goals and three assists for 27 points. Six of Townsend's 12 goals were game-winners, including the deciding goal in Southern Maine's 1-0 quarterfinal win over Plymouth State in the LEC Championship. Townsend finished the 2025 season ranked third in the Little East Conference in goals, shots on goal, and overall shots. Her six game-winning goals ranked second in the LEC, while her 27 points were eighth. A Sport Management major, Townsend earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
 
Southern Maine opens its 2026 season on the road at University of New England on Tuesday, September 1 (5:30 pm). The Huskies host the University of Hartford in its home-opener on Saturday, September 5 (2:00 pm).
