GORHAM, Maine – Seven members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll. Junior Ella Burnell (Biddeford, Maine), graduate student Anna Byers (Milford, Ct./Joseph A. Foran), graduate student Katelyn D'Appolonia (Yarmouth, Maine), senior Elaina Hanselmann (Sanford, Maine), senior Britney Hill (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy), junior Alivia Johnston (Oakland, Maine/ Messalonskee) and junior Eliza Pattershall (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook) have each earned a spot on the honor roll.
 
Byers, D'Appolonia, Hill and Pattershall each earned All-Little East Conference honors during the 2026 season with D'Appolonia being chosen as the LEC Midfielder of the Year. D'Appolonia and Hill also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
The IWLCA honored 1,350 student-athletes from 174 different institutions on the 2025-26 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 
 
Burnell started all 19 games for the Huskies last season and recorded three goals and five assists. She also added eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Burnell has appeared in 35 career games and has five goals and seven assists in her career. She is majoring in Nursing.
 
Byers, a team captain, earned All-LEC honors for the first time in her career after recording 35 goals, eight assists, 43 points, 27 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Starting all 19 games this season, Byers reached the 100-career points milestone this year to finish her career with 85 goals and 19 assists. She ranks eighth in program history in draw controls with 148. Byers is completing her Master's degree in Teacher Leadership.
 
D'Appolonia earned IWLCA Second Team All-Pilgrim Region honors for the second year in a row to become the first Husky with multiple All-Region nods. She led the team in nearly every offensive category while setting a program record for assists in a season with 35 and tying the record for points in a season with 94. She finished the season with 59 goals, 35 assists, 56 ground balls, 33 caused turnovers and 104 draw controls. D'Appolonia ranks third in program history in career draw controls (186), fifth in assists (52) and 10th in both goals (115) and points (167). A team captain, D'Appolonia is working towards her Master's degree in Digital Marketing Analytics.
 
Hanselmann, also a team captain, scored 15 goals and had three assists while starting all 19 games. She finished her career with 42 goals, three assists, 22 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers in 58 games. Hanselmann graduated with a degree in Political Science in May of 2025 and was pursuing a secondary degree in Marketing for the 2026 season.
 
Hill earned First Team All-LEC honors for the second consecutive season after finishing third on the team in ground balls with 50 and fourth in caused turnovers with 30. She recorded her 100th career ground ball in a 12-8 win over Keene State on April 4. Hill also scored the first goal of her career in a 22-1 win over Rhode Island College on April 18. The English major ended her career with 122 ground balls and 64 caused turnovers in 52 career games.
 
Johnston started in 13 games this season and recorded 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. She has played in 29 career games and has recorded 27 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. Johnston is majoring in Social Work.
 
Pattershall, a Second Team All-LEC selection, led the team in caused turnovers with 47, the second-highest single-season total in program history, and also ranked second on the team in ground balls with 55. She started all 19 games and set career-highs in goals (35), assists (15) and points (50) and finished in the top-five on the team in each category. Pattershall recorded her 100th career ground ball in the LEC Championship game against WestConn. In her career, she has recorded 62 goals and 20 assists for 82 points in 45 games. Pattershall is double-majoring in Psychology and Health Sciences.
