How It Happened: Game One
  • Southern Maine took advantage of four first-inning walks to score a pair of runs to lead early and never look back in a 10-1 five-inning win over the Seahawks. Senior Mackenzie Renner (Alton, NH/Prospect Mountain) had an RBI sacrifice fly in the inning, while sophomore Taylor Takatsu (Gardiner, Maine) drew an RBI walk.
  • The Huskies piled on three more runs in the second. Sophomore Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass.) had a single in the inning, while Southern Maine drew five more walks to lead 5-0.  Senior Oliva Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) had an RBI ground out, while senior Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) and Taktasu both had RBI walks.
  • Salve Regina scored its lone run in the game on a two-out RBI single from Taylor Ferraiolo as part of a three-hit inning for the Seahawks, but Husky starter Mackenzie Kingbury (Woodsville, NH) answered getting a ground out to end the inning.
  • The Huskies scored twice in the in the third. Freshman Caitlyn Lemay (Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy) and Davis each had hits in the innings and scored on Salve Regina fielding errors for a 7-1 USM lead.  In the bottom of the third, Kingsbury retired the Seahawks in order, and in the fourth the Huskies made it 9-1 with two more runs. Davis' third hit of the game led to another Salve Regina error and scored senior Alana Delisle (Amesbury, Mass.). Delisle pinch-ran in the inning for Takatsu who led off with a single.
  • In the top of the fifth, USM made it 10-1 as Bezanson tripled to right for an RBI.  Up by more than eight runs, Southern Maine closed the game as Kingsbury got the win working around a walk and single in the inning to improve to 3-0.

Game Two
  • After a scorless two innings, Southern Maine pushed four runs across the plate in the third. Levasseur did a bulk of the damage with a three-run double to the gap in left, while Yebba added an RBI single as part of a five-hit Husky inning.  Sophomore Hannah Garcia (Dartmouth, Mass.), Davis and freshman Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) each had singles in the inning.
  • Sophomore Mia Coots (Hartland, Maine/Nokomis) worked around back-to-back singles in the bottom of the third to strand the Seahawks at first and second, getting the next three outs consecutively.
  • In the fourth, Southern Maine increased its lead to 5-0. Takatsu drew a lead-off walk and moved to third on a single to right from Delisle.  Takatsu scored on the next play as Delisle was caught trying to steal second. Coots kept the game 5-0 getting three ground outs in the fourth.
  • Both teams were scoreless in the fifth, and the Huskies were unable to capitalize on two base runners in the top of the sixth. Salve Regina broke the shutout bid from Coots in the bottom of the inning.  The Seahawks collected three of their nine hits in the game during the sixth.  Emma Plourde and Ryann Burke each singled around a walk to Victoria Geisser to load the Seahawk bases with one out before Skyla Oliveira knocked an RBI single to right.  With the bases still full and one out, Coots responded getting an infield fly to third base, and a ground out to her self to end the threat and keep USM up 5-1.
  • Southern Maine scored twice in the top of the seventh.  Wheeler led off the inning with a single up the middle before Levasseur hit her second double of the game for an RBI.  LeMay made it 7-1 with a sacrifice fly RBI to right before the inning ended.
  • Junior Camdyn Johnson (West Bath, Maine/Morse) closed the game for USM, getting a pair of strikeouts in her one inning of work.
