How It Happened: Game One
- Sophomore Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass.) was 3-for-4 and sophomore Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) and Gwen Christie (Barnstead, NH/Prospect Mountain) and senior Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) each collected two hits as Southern Maine defeated KSC 7-1 in the opener.
- Senior Mackenzie Kingsbury (Woodsville, NH) earned her fourth win of the season (4-0), going the distance and scattering four hits over seven innings.
- USM took a 3-0 lead in the second as Christie knocked an RBI double down the left field line to start the scoring. Davis had an RBI single to shortstop, while Wheeler singled to right field for an RBI, scoring Christie.
- KSC made it 3-1 in the bottom of the third on a single through the left side from Abby Weiterman for an RBI, but the Huskies came right back in the top of the fourth with four runs on four hits and a costly fielding error for a 7-1 lead.
- Senior Kristina Yebba (Danvers, Mass.) made it 4-1 with a two-out RBI single to third. Yebba's single scored Davis who had a single through the left side earlier in the inning. The Huskies scored three more runs on a outfield error on a fly ball for a 7-1 lead. Christie, Davis, Wheeler, and Yebba each had hits in the inning.
- From there, Kingsbury was in control holding the Owls to just three singles and two walks the rest of the way.
Game Two
- Elyse Picard hit a three-run home run to left in the bottom of the third inning erasing a two-run deficit and propelling the Keene State Owls to a 5-2 win over the Huskies in game two.
- Southern Maine led 2-0 after scoring a run in the top of the second and third. Sophomore Taylor Takatsu had an RBI single to left in the second for USM's 1-0 lead. She drove in senior Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) who had led off the inning with a single down the left field line. In the third, senior Mackenzie Renner (Alton, NH/Prospect Mountain) earned an RBI walk for a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass.) led off the inning with a single up the middle and scored the run. She stole second base before moving to third on a fielder's choice play.
- After Picard's homer, the Huskies had a chance to score a tying run in the top of the fourth on a double from freshman Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine), but Southern Maine's lead runner was cut down at home on a relay from right field.
- In the fifth, KSC added two more runs on a sacrifice fly from Picard and an RBI double from Abby Weiterman. From there, the Huskies were unable to move a runner into scoring position over the sixth and seventh innings for the 5-2 final.
