How It Happened: Game One
- Kingsbury got a pair of looking strikeouts in the bottom of the second with a runner on third and one out, and after the Huskies went down in order in the bottom of the inning the score remained 0-0.
- UNE struck first in the top of the third. Lizzie Brytowski picked up the RBI single to left scoring Hannah Irons. Irons led off the inning with a single to center and put herself in scoring position with a stolen base. After a two walks, Kingsbury had the bases loaded against her with two outs, but was able to escape further damage with a flyout to right field.
- USM had runners in scoring position in the bottom of the third, and in the fourth but remained behind the Nor'easters 1-0. In the top of the fifth, UNE had a lead runner but a sacrifice play that successfully moved the runner up a base turned into two outs as the Husky defense caught Zofia Twarog in a lengthy run-down as she attempted to get to third. After the run down, Kingbury kept the game at 1-0 with a foul ball pop-out to first.
- Southern Maine took the lead in the fifth scoring three runs on four hits and a UNE error. Senior Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) led off with a single and scored the first run on a well-place bunt single from Moore. Bezanson had advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved up to third on a bunt single from Davis. Southern Maine loaded the bases on an infield error before Renner picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center for a 2-1 USM lead. Yebba made it 3-1 with an RBI single to center scoring Moore.
- In the top of the sixth, Kingsbury notched her sixth strikeout of the game (third looking) before giving up a single to center and being relieve by Coots. Coots entered and gave up a single before getting the next two outs on a line-out to short and a pop up.
- Southern Maine added five runs to seal the game in the bottom of the sixth. USM had three consecutive singles from Bezanson, Davis and Moore before Levasseur's fielder's choice grounder led to an unearned run and a 4-1 lead. Yebba cleared the bases for Southern Maine with a double down the left field line for three RBI and a 7-1 Husky advantage before sophomore Ava Gerrish (Limerick, Maine/Massabesic) made it 8-1 with a pinch-hit RBI single up the middle.
- UNE added a run in the seventh as Delaney Whitten scored after leading off with a double to center field. Whitten advanced to third on a single from Kyleigh Matola and scored on the throw during a caught-stealing play for the second out. Coots ended the game with a strikeout for the 8-2 final.
Game Two
- Coots fanned eight and did not yield a walk in a strong performance in game two, holding the Nor'easters to just three hits, and keeping UNE hitless until the fourth inning.
- Southern Maine took a 1-0 lead in the first as Davis and Moore led off with back-to-back singles to give USM base-runners early. After one out Renner doubled to the gap in left for an RBI scoring Davis.
- Coots had two of her eight strikeouts in the top of the second to protect the one-run lead before USM made it 2-0 in the home half of the inning. Freshman Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) led off with a double to the gap in left and then scored on an RBI single to center from sophomore Gwen Christie (Barnstead, NH/Prospect Mountain). Davis had a double in the inning, advancing Christie to third but back-to-back line outs ended the threat.
- Coots had UNE down 1-2-3 retiring her ninth consecutive batters in the top of the third, and the Huskies were quiet. In the top of the fourth, Coots had a fly out to right and a line-out to short on a strong play defensively from Levasseur before yielding a single to UNE's Adrianna Carsetti for the first Nor'easter hit of the game. Coots ended the inning on the next batter however with a fly out to center.
