Burke Places Second in Heptathlon at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON – Senior Christian Burke (York, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's track & field team placed second in the heptathlon at New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships on Saturday with 4,725 points. Burke entered the day in second place and retained his position over the final three events thanks largely to a first-place performance in the pole vault with a mark of 4.40m.  Senior Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) placed fourth in the heptagon with 4,555 points.
 
The Huskies placed 11th in the team standings with 23 total points.
 
The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Marcus Tillery (Windham, Maine), senior Pashalis Pashalidis (Palo Alto, Cali), senior Jonathan Dalessandro (Westbrook, Maine) and freshman Kody McCranie (Bow, N.H.) also scored points for the Huskies by placing sixth with a season-best time of 3:28.12.
 
Senior Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) placed 17th in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:42.34 to set a new personal-best and move into fourth on the program leaderboard.
 
Tillery also competed in the 60-meter dash and placed 19th with a time of 7.14 seconds.
 
The list of participants for 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced tomorrow shall be available via the NCAA website (ncaa.org) by 7 p.m. Eastern time tomorrow evening. For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams will be accepted into the competition.
 
Currently, freshman Ryker Paradis (Lewiston, Maine) ranks 11th in the shot put with a mark of 17.41m. Burke and D'Amico each rank in the top 30 in the heptathlon at 22nd and 27th, respectively.
