Eliza Pattershall (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook) turned in a strong performance on both offensive and defense on Thursday afternoon with two goals, two assists, five caused turnover and five ground balls as part a 9-5 win for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse team over the University of New England Nor'easters. Graduate student
Katelyn D'Appolonia (Yarmouth, Maine) also had an impressive stat line with a goal, two assists, six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Freshman
Mariam DeLisle (Whitefield, Maine/Lincoln Academy) scored the two first two goals of her career and senior
Cierra Hill (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy) scored twice as well. The Huskies also had goals from graduate student
Anna Byers (Milford, Ct./Joseph A. Foran) and senior
Elaina Hanselmann (Sanford, Maine).
Freshman goalie
Emma Morrison (Rockland, Maine/Kents Hill) made two saves and recorded four ground balls.
Chloe Ryan led the Nor'easters with a goal and an assist.

The Huskies have won the last three meetings in the series, but the Nor'easters have the edge 13-9 in the all-time series.

How It Happened:
- An up goal by Vail Carruthers gave the Nor'easters a 10 lead less than five minutes into the first quarter. However, the Huskies rallied for three consecutive goals over the final three minutes to go ahead 3-1 after one quarter. Hill scored the first and third goal with a free-position goal by D'Appolonia sandwiched in between. D'Appolonia assisted on both goals by Hill.
- The Nor'easters scored three unanswered goals of their own in the second quarter to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. Sydney Balotin scored the first goal on a free-position shot in the first two minutes then Ainsley Kearney tied the game with 6:36 left in the half. An Ella Cloutier goal with 32 seconds on the clock sent UNE to halftime with the lead.
- The game of runs continued in the second half with the Huskies scoring three times in the span of 2:02 to retake the lead. Hanselmann tied the game at 4-4 with Pattershall assisting. DeLise then gave the Huskies the lead a minute later with her first career goal before Pattershall found a cutting Byers in front of the net to make the lead 6-4. Pattsershall then added a goal of her own with the Huskies on the up to extend the lead to 7-4.
- DeLise scored for the second time 14 seconds into the final quarter to give the Huskies an 8-4 lead. Pattershall extended the lead to 9-4 before Chole Ryan scored the last goal of the contest for the 9-5 final.
Inside The Stats:
- Southern Maine led 29-7 in shots on goal and outshot the Nor'easters 41-9 in total.
- Each team won eight draw controls.
- The Huskies led 27-16 in ground balls.
- Southern Maine had 17 caused turnovers led by five by Pattershall, four by D'Appolonia and three from Hill.
