GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Hayden Strout (Charleston, Maine/Foxcroft Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' baseball team has been named the Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) Rookie of the Week. The first batch of MCBSA weekly awards included stats for all games played on or before March 15.
 
Strout allowed just one run, three hits and a walk over four innings against Lakeland University last Friday in his first career start. Strout also ended his day by picking off a runner who had just singled to end the fourth. The Huskies won the seven-inning game by a score 16-1. Strout pitched again on Tuesday, throwing five innings in a 4-1 loss to Ramapo and giving up just a pair of unearned runs.
 
The Huskies will play their first Little East Conference games on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth. Game one of the doubleheader will start at 12:00 pm.
