NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Senior
John Hagan (Canton, Mass./Tilton School) recorded the first multiple goal game of his career on Friday evening for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's ice hockey team in a 6-3 Little East Conference road loss to the Norwich University Cadets. Norwich had goals from six different players in the win with Cooper Bertrand leading all players with three points on a goal and two assists.

Tonight's game was the 54th between the Huskies and Cadets. Norwich leads the series 47-4-3 and won the first game between the two teams this season, 2-1, on November 15 in Gorham.

How It Happened:
- Norwich opened the game with a goal by Bertrand 1:43 into the action and doubled up their lead with 2:47 left in the period on a score by Zach Ophoven.
- The Huskies cut the lead to 2-1 about halfway through the second period when Hagan cashed in on the rebound of a shot by senior Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario) on the power play. Senior Cole Brennan (Sussex, N.J./ Pomfret School) had the secondary assist.
- Stahlbaum answered for Norwich with a power play goal just over five minutes later to make the lead 3-1.
- The Cadets scored three unanswered goals in three different ways over the first 8:30 of the third period to extend their lead to 6-1. First, Niko Benjamin scored on the power play 1:15 into the period. Norwich then had a shorthanded goal by Owen Sclisizzi before Ben van Waterschoot added a sixth Cadet goal at even strength.
- Vinson tipped in a shot by sophomore Owen Arend (Palmetto, Fla./Kents Hill School) with 4:04 left after sophomore Gage LeTourneau (Presque Isle, Maine) intercepted a pass in the offensive zone. Hagan then added a second goal with 2:30 left to play that was assisted by freshmen Cam Gwatkin (Lyndonville, Vt./Proctor Academy) and Ben Aucoin (Moncton, New Brunswick). Aucoin has now had assists in each of the last three games.

Inside The Stats:
- Norwich outshot the Huskies 32-24 and had a 44-26 lead in faceoff wins.
- The Huskies went 1-for-3 on the power play while Norwich scored twice on four opportunities.
- Each team blocked 11 shots. LeToureanu and Ilott each had two to lead the Huskies.
- Brennan took over the team lead in assists with 10, while Arend reached double figures for points with his sixth assist to go along with four goals.
