GORHAM, Maine – Freshman
Ryker Paradis (Lewiston, Maine) set a new University of Southern Maine program record in the shot put in his first meet as a Husky with a toss of 15.71m to place first in the event. Paradis was one of three freshmen to win field events for the Huskies as
Dylan Courtney (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) won the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 4.48m and
Tyler Bryant (South Portland, Maine) placed first in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m. Southern Maine placed second in the team standings behind Keene State.
The Huskies also won three track events. Junior
Aidan Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine) won the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.46. Pecoraro also ran with a distance medley team that placed first. He was joined by freshman
Harry Dunne (Hollis Center, Maine/Bonny Eagle), sophomore
Preston Gerry (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and freshman
Conner Smith (Durham, Maine/Freeport). The other members of the distance medley team placed second through fourth in the 800 with Dunne placing second (2:02.63), Smith finishing third (2:03.27) and Gerry finishing fourth (2:03.66). Dunne and Smith's times are personal bests.
Southern Maine also won the 4x400 relay with the team of freshman
Camden Brown (Veazie, Maine/Orono), senior
Christian Burke (York, Maine), senior
Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) and senior
Jon Dalessandro (Westbrook, Maine) with a time of 3:35.37.
The Huskies also sent a group of athletes to the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Senior
Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H.) ran a season-best time of 49.49 seconds to place 14th in the 400 meters. Sophomore
Marcus Tillery (Windham, Maine) placed 40th in the open 200 meters at 22.39 seconds. Senior
Pashalis Pashalidis (Palo Alto, Cali.) placed 98th in the 400 meters with a time of 52.19 seconds. Junior
Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) placed 138th in the 800 meters at 2:10.99.
Track Event Highlights:
- Senior Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) placed second in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:00.72.
- Senior Darien Davis (Lisbon Falls, Maine) placed fourth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:38.21.
- Freshman Ethan Cadorette (Biddeford, Maine) finished fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:25.46 to set a new personal-best.
- Burke and D'Amico placed fifth and sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with times of 8.19 seconds and 8.23 seconds. Burke's time of 8.19 seconds is a personal-best.
- Senior Camden Bessey (Westbrook, Maine) placed sixth in the mile with a time of 4:51.57.
- Senior Nate Brown (Palo Alto, Cali.) placed eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.27 seconds.
- Freshman Gavin Gerry (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) placed eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.33.
- Junior Kyle Hartford (South Portland, Maine) placed eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:02.73.
- Freshman Brady Edwards (South Portland, Maine) placed ninth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds to set a personal-best.
- Sophomore Reegan Buck (Portland, Maine) placed 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.23 seconds.
Field Event Highlights:
- Dalessandro and Camden Brown placed third and fourth in the pole vault with each athlete clearing 4.00m.
- Sophomore Trevor Amos (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) placed fourth in the weight throw at 14.29m and fifth in the shot put at 12.73m.
- Sophomore Tim Bowler (Danvers, Mass.) placed third in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 15.40m.
- Bryant finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.02m
- Burke placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 6.19m. D'Amico placed 10th at 5.96m

The Huskies will compete at the Maine State Meet next Saturday at Bates College in their final tune-up before the Little East Conference Championships.
