GORHAM, Maine  –  For the second time this season, senior Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's basketball team has been named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week. Recently named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season (Dec. 7, Jan. 5, Jan. 26), Christopher previously earned NEWBA recognition on December 8.
 
Averaging a double-double in three road victories during the week, Christopher helped the Huskies improve their overall record to 17-1 while remaining undefeated in the Little East Conference (LEC) at 9-0 and running their win-streak to 14 games.  Christopher averaged 19.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals per game with a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio, while shooting 64.0 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range.
Playing in back-to-back road games, Christopher had 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists in 25 minutes in an 81-52 win at Thomas College. On the next night, a 75-51 LEC win at Plymouth State, the Huskies' 6-0 guard at 19 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a steal on 6-for-10 shooting. Christopher then notched her LEC leading seventh double-double of the season with 25 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 82-54 win at WestConn.

Christopher is averaging 19.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game for the season and is shooting an outstanding 57.9 percent from the field, including a 48.6 percent mark from three-point range. She had a season and career-high 30 points in a 79-55 win over WestConn on December 6, and has snagged a season and career-high 13 rebounds on five different occasions.
 
The Huskies (17-1, 9-0 Little East) are at home on Wednesday, January 28 (5:00 pm) against UMass Boston, and then hosts Keene State College on Saturday, January 31 (1:00 pm) in the second annual NAMI Maine/Wade Millett Memorial Foundation Games.
