BOSTON – Jake Lindstrom scored with 2:26 left in the third period to give the UMass Boston Beacons a 4-3 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Friday night in Little East Conference action. The Huskies overcame a pair of two-goal deficits in the contest but came up just short in the end. The Beacons had two goals from Jazz Krivtsov while Southern Maine's goals were scored by senior John Hagan (Canton, Mass./Tilton School), freshman Jordan Bezio (North Hampton, N.H.) and junior Kayde Kinaschuk (Calgary, Alberta).
 
Freshman Loic Morin (Drummondville, Quebec) made 36 saves in the loss. UMass Boston's Alex Koenig earned the win and made 33 saves.

Series History:
The Beacons lead the all-time series 29-22-1. The teams split the season series last year with the Beacons winning the first game 3-2 and the Huskies taking the second game 5-4.

How It Happened:

• The Beacons struck first with a goal by Krivtsov from Jude Kurtas just 26 seconds into the action. The goal was the only score of the period.
• Hagan tied the game 3:37 into the second period with his fourth goal of the season off the rebound of a shot by sophomore Isaac Grondin (Yarmouth, Maine). Senior Conor Donovan (Nathan, Mass./Swampscott) also assisted. The Beacons reclaimed the lead with two goals in 1:34 with Colin Richard scoring the tying goal and Krivtsov scoring his second goal of the game on a breakaway.
• Bezio got the Huskies back within a goal with 2:47 left with a nifty goal after maneuvering through the Beacons' defense for his fourth goal of the season. Sophomore Hunter Svicki (Toronto, Ontario) had the pass that sprung Bezio and picked up the assist. Senior Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario) also assisted.
• The Huskies tied the game at 3-3 on a power play snipe by Kinaschuk from sophomore Owen Arend (Palmetto, Fla./Kents Hill School) 34 seconds into the third period. The Beacons scored the game-winning goal with 2:26 left and held on for the win with Koenig stopping four shots in the final minute.

• UMass Boston led 40-36 in shots on goal and 44-20 in faceoff wins.
• The Beacons' penalty killing teams killed off four of the five USM power plays. The Huskies killed three penalties.
