Busy Weekend Ahead for Huskies Athletics During 2025 University of Southern Maine Homecoming and Family Weekend (October 3-5)

 GORHAM, Maine  –  Welcoming alumni, family and Husky fans to campus, the University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics will host a number of events as part of the University's Homecoming and Family Weekend October 3-5.
 
"As always, we are very excited to be a part of the University of Southern Maine Homecoming and Family weekend. I am personally excited to be a part of my first Homecoming and Family weekend, as the University has a great deal to celebrate and commemorate during this weekend," noted Southern Maine Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation John Sutyak.  "We are looking forward to a great weekend, capped with our 39th Husky Hall of Fame ceremony on Sunday night, October 5th."
 
With events on both the Gorham and Portland campus, activities range from music concerts, athletic contests, casino night, and more, and will include festivities for alumni, students, friends, and family. Friday kicks off with an alumni heavy Husky Pack Chat: Mocktail Social & Professional Networking event at 4:00 pm, and concludes with Men's Ice Hockey's Husky Pack Showcase Series at 5:30 pm.
 
Now an annual event, the USM Athletics Mocktail Social & Professional Networking Event gives participating students an opportunity to practice the art of networking as they engage with many Southern Maine alumni representing businesses from the greater Portland area.  Following the networking event, students will gather with representatives from the Career Hub to recap the event and to observe a USM student participate in a mock interview.
 
Men's Ice Hockey's Showcase Series is a fun and exciting intrasquad event that will start with a traditional 5v5 game and work its way to a shootout.  Taking place at the USM Ice Arena, this event is a great way to catch up with the Huskies prior to the start of the 2025-2026 intercollegiate season.

Husky fall student-athletes will be in action during the weekend at Hannaford Field, and beyond. Field hockey hosts Little East Conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday, October 4 (12:00 pm), while men's soccer will follow (3:00 pm), hosting LEC foe Keene State. Later that evening, women's lacrosse will host its annual Alumni Game (6:00 pm) also at Hannaford Field.
 
Sunday is another day packed with Husky athletic events. Men's golf will host its USM Husky Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, Maine. The 2024 Little East Conference champions, men's golf has had an incredible start to its 2025 season with seven first place finishes in its nine scoring events.
 
Women's soccer returns to Gorham after a Saturday away contest to take on nationally-ranked Williams College at Hannaford Field (1:00 pm).  Huskies' women's soccer is the three-time defending Little East Conference champions (2022, 2023 and 2024). 
  
Finally, the weekend's athletic festivities conclude with the 39th Annual Husky Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony. University of Southern Maine Athletics will recognize its Class of 2025 inductees with a celebration at the Italian Heritage Center, Portland, Maine, beginning at 5:00 pm with a social hour.  An RSVP and tickets are required for attendance.
 
This year's Husky Hall of Fame class includes standouts from cross country, baseball, field hockey, track & field, soccer, and softball.
