D'Appolonia Named Little East Rookie of the Year, Durepo Chosen as Coach of the Year

GORHAM, Maine – Junior Katelyn D'Appolonia (Yarmouth, Maine) was named 2025 Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, head coach Ashley Durepo was picked as the conference's Coach of the Year, and junior Britney Hill (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy) was named first team all-conference to highlight the 2025 Little East Conference post-season awards for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse team. D'Appolonia was also named to the first team, while senior Lydia Laslavic (Thomaston, Maine / Oceanside) was the team's representative on the LEC Sportsmanship Team.

D'Appolonia led the conference in goals-per-game with 4.00 and was second in points-per-game with 5.21 despite missing time due to an injury. The five-time LEC Rookie of the Week led the Huskies in goals with 57, points with 73, and draw controls with 82. She recorded points in all 14 games that she played in, highlighted by a program-record 13-point game against Clark University in which she set a new program record for goals with 11. The midfielder scored multiple goals in 11 games. She was also a defensive standout and ranked second on the team in ground balls with 43 while also causing 23 turnovers. D'Appolonia is the sixth Husky to earn the Rookie of the Year award and the first since Kate Colvin in 2022.

Hill posted a team-leading 47 ground balls while starting every game on defense. She placed fifth on the team in caused turnovers and had multiple caused turnovers in six games. Her defensive prowess extended beyond her individual stat sheet as she provided leadership and consistency for a young defense that finished second in the conference in caused turnovers. Her season-high for ground balls of six came twice, first in the season-opening win at the University of New England and then again in a road win at Husson University.

Laslavic, who had started just two games in her career before this season, set a new program record for wins in a season with 13. She made 10 or more saves in four games with a career-high 13 in a 16-5 win against Keene State College. Her 9.77 goals-against-average is the fourth best in a season in program history.

Durepo, who returned to the USM sideline this season, guided the team to a program record 13 wins and the third seed in the LEC Championship Tournament. The Huskies defeated No. 6 seed UMass Dartmouth in the first round before falling to eventual conference champion Western Connecticut State University in the semifinals. One of the team's 13 wins this season was a 13-8 win over local rival Saint Joseph's College of Maine, the Huskies first win over the Monks since 2014. Durepo is in her second stint as the head coach of the Huskies having led the program for three seasons from 2018-2020. She previously earned the conference's Coach of the Year award in 2019 and now joins Lauren Reid (2010 and 2013) as a two-time winner. Her career record as head coach of the Huskies is 33-22.
