Top-Ranked Hobart Hands Southern Maine 6-2 Loss

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Hobart College Statesmen defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-2 on Friday night behind three-point performances from Tanner Daniels, Luke Aquaro and Cooper Swift. Daniels had two goals and an assist while Aquaro reversed his scoring line. Swift assisted on three goals. Shane Snell also had two points on a goal and an assist.
 
Sophomore Marcus Torgner (Mjolby, Sweden) and junior Conor Donovan (Nahant, Mass./Swampscott) scored for the Huskies. Torgner's goal came on the power play and was assisted by freshman Gavin Simopoulos (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and fifth-year senior Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine). Senior Azam Jiwa (Calgary, Alberta) and freshman Ryan Pappalardo (Salem, N.H.) had assists on Donovan's goal.

How It Happened:
  • Hobart started strong with three goals in the first period. Matthew Iasenza scored the first 7:16 into the game followed by Daniels at 11:11 and Ryan Remick at 12:29.
  • Snell made the lead 4-0 1:21 into the second period. Torgner ended the shutout bid 11:45 into the period with a power play goal.
  • Daniels scored his second goal of the game 4:19 into the third period on the power play. Donovan then made the lead 5-2 before Aquaro added another Hobart score for the 6-2 final.
