GORHAM, Maine - For the fourth consecutive year, and fourth time in program history, the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's soccer team is headed to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. The Huskies (11-10-2) claimed the Little East Conference's automatic bid to the tournament after winning the LEC's tournament championship with a 3-0 shutout win over Western Connecticut State University Wolves. Playing a challenging schedule that included five nationally-ranked programs and numerous regionally-ranked opponents outside of conference action, Southern Maine was the third-seed in the tournament. Southern Maine defeated No. 6 UMass Boston 4-2 in the quarterfinal, No. 2 Keene State 3-2 (OT) in the semifinal, and WestConn 3-0 in the championship.
Southern Maine will face nationally-ranked No. 4 Messiah University (19-2, 7-0 MAC Commonwealth) in the first round on Saturday, November 15 (TBA pm). Messiah's Shoemaker Field in Grantham, Pa. will serve as a host site. Joining the four-team pod with the Huskies and Messiah are Amherst College (10-4-2 NESCAC) and SUNY-Cortland (14-2-4, 8-0-1 SUNYAC).
Sixty-four teams will vie for the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship Title. Cortland earned the SUNYAC automatic bid claiming the conference championship over SUNY-Plattsburgh 3-2, while Amherst earned an at-large bid after falling to Colby College in the quarterfinals of its conference tournament.
Completing the four-peat as Little East Conference Championship (2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025), the Huskies shut out their opponents five times this season, including a 3-0 win over WestConn in the tournament championship. Southern Maine averaged 2.48 goals per game, scoring five goals on four occasions.
Defensively, the Huskies are led by a quartet of senior backs including 2025 All-LEC center back
Devan Sherry (Gorham, Maine/Waynflete), and 2022 All-LEC outside back
Devon Gatz (Millis, Mass.). In the midfield, the Huskies are led by three-time All-LEC pick and team co-captain
Cierra Hill (Pembroke, NH) and sophomore standouts
Makyla Magid (Golden, Colo.) and
Meghan Przybilla (St. Anthony, Minn.) Both Magid and Przybilla earned all-conference honors as freshman. Named the LEC Championship Most Outstanding Player, Przybilla has 13 goals and 11 assists this season for 37 points, while Magid has six goals and eight assists for 20 points.

Graduating an All-American and an All-Conference goalkeeper in 2024, the Huskies have platooned a trio of shot-stoppers. Freshman
Madi Cook (Essex, Mass.) has had the reigns over the last five games (5-0-0, two shutouts), including through the LEC tourney.
