GORHAM, Maine    –   Graduate student Bryce Lausier (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's basketball team has been named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association co-Player of the Week for the week ending January 5. Recently named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the same time-period, Lausier is now a three-time MMBCWA Player of the Week honoree, and has four weekly citations overall.
 
Playing in the Concordia (Texas) Holiday Classic in Austin, Texas, Lausier posted back-to-back outstanding performances for Southern Maine in games against the Concordia University Tornadoes and the Nebraska Wesleyan University Wolves. Lausier averaged 24.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.  Against the Tornadoes, Lausier recorded his eighth double-double of the season shooting 8-for-18 from the field for 25 points and snagged a season and career-best 20 rebounds.  Against Nebraska Wesleyan, Lausier had 24 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal. 
 
Through 12 games this season, Lausier has eight double-doubles and is averaging 22.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.  Shooting 51.6 percent from the field (98-for-190), and 41.3 percent from three-point range (26-for-63), Lausier has season highs of 30 points (vs Rhode Island College, 12/11/14); 20 rebounds (vs Concordia (Texas), 12/29/24); and nine assists (vs. UMaine Farmington, 11/20/24). In NCAA Division III statistics, Lausier is ranked first in defensive rebounds per game (10.33), sixth in double-doubles (8), ninth in overall rebounds (139), 19^th in points (274), and 22^nd in points per game (22.8). 
 
Back in Little east Conference action, the Huskies host UMass Boston tonight at 7:30 pm at Hill Gymnasium's Fifield Court.
