GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore
Matt Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./New Hampton School) gave the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's ice hockey their third overtime win of the season with a goal 1:16 into the extra period for a 3-2 New England Hockey Conference win over the Salve Regina University Seahawks. Sullivan's game-winner was assisted by fifth-year senior
Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) and
Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario). Ouellette had assists on two of Southern Maine's three goals.

Kyle Penton (Waltham, Mass./Albany Academy) made 31 saves in the win. Ilott scored a goal as well, as did junior
Conor Donovan (Nahant, Mass./Swampscott). Senior

Series History:
Tonight's game was the first time the teams have played since January 2, 2010, when the Huskies defeated the Seahawks 7-3. The Huskies are now 5-0 all-time in the series.
The Goaltenders:
Salve Regina: Cayden Bailey (5-5-1), 61:16, three goal allowed, 26 saves
Southern Maine:
Kyle Penton (3-3-0): 59:01, two goal allowed, 31 saves
How It Happened:
- No goals were scored in the first period but the team's made up for that with two scores apiece in the second. The Huskies scored the first two with Ilott opening the scoring 3:10 in the period with a shot from the point after a pass from Ouellette. The second goal came when MacDuff hit Pollara with a long pass. Pollara's initial shot was saved but Donovan was there to clean up the rebound.
- The Seahawks answered with a goal by Quinn Tavares from Arvega Hovsepyan and Hoon Kim 35 seconds after Donovan's tally. Kaiden Kanderka tied the game with less than two minutes to go period to send the teams to the intermission knotted up at 2-2.
- The score remained tied after the next 20 minutes of action to force the game into overtime. An interference penalty gave the Huskies a 4-on-3 advantage. With the Huskies on the power play, Sullivan fired a shot that was knocked into the air by the Salve Regina goalie before bouncing off his back and into the net.
Inside The Stats:
- The Huskies converted on their only power play opportunity while the Seahawks went 0-for-2.
- Salve Regina led 33-29 in shots on goal and 37-33 in faceoff wins.
- Southern Maine has now won three games in overtime and Sullivan has contributed to each one. He assisted on the game-winners in both the overtime wins against Endicott College and Bowdoin College.
- The Huskies blocked 24 shots in the game.
