Huskies Defeated by Falcons on the Road

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College Falcons defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 10-1 on Friday evening in New England Hockey Conference action. Maksim Tseglnik and Sam Anderson had hat tricks for the Falcons while sophomore Matt Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./New Hampton School) scored for the Huskies.

Series History:
Today's contest was the first-ever game between the two programs.
 
The Goaltenders:
Southern Maine: Kyle Penton (2-3-1), 20:00, four goals allowed, 17 saves
Southern Maine: Mason Palmer: 40:00, six goal allowed, 26 saves
Albertus Magnus: Chace Hale (3-3-0), 50:04, one goal allowed, 20 saves
Albertus Magnus: Garrett Boyonoski: 9:56, no goals allowed, one save
 
How It Happened:
  • The Falcons scored four goals in the first period with two coming from Tseglnik. Bailey Kirwin and Caden Pattison also scored.
  • Albertus Magnus extended the lead to 6-0 with two more goals in the second period. Tyler Ignazzitto scored the first and Tseglnik completed his hat trick.
  • The Falcons added three more goals in the third before Sullivan ended the shut out with a goal that was assisted by freshman Gavin Simopoulos (Cape Elizabeth, Maine). Two of the goals came from Anderson, who then completed his hat trick in the final minute of play. Paden Hicks scored for the Falcons as well.
 
Inside The Stats:
  • The Falcons outshot the Huskies 53-22 and 48-26 in faceoff wins.
  • Southern Maine was 0-for-2 on the power play and Albertus Magnus went 1-for-2.
  • Sullivan now has 10 points on the season from two goals and eight assists.
