GORHAM, Maine –
Angela Mallis has announced her departure as head coach of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse program. Mallis, the eighth head coach in program history, led the Huskies to a 34-27 record over four seasons. Former Southern Maine head coach Ashley Durepo, who led the Huskies from 2018-2020, will take over the program with a formal announcement to be made this evening.
"On behalf of the University of Southern Maine and the Department of Athletics, I would like to thank
Angela Mallis for her service and dedication to our student-athletes and the women's lacrosse program." said Director of Athletics Al Bean.
Named the interim head coach for the 2021 season, Mallis led the Huskies to a 6-3 record and had the interim tag removed the following summer. The Huskies made the Little East Conference playoffs in each of her four seasons, and she was chosen as the Little East Conference Coach of the Year in 2023. During her tenure, Mallis coached 18 Huskies to All-Little East Conference honors, including 2022 Rookie of the Year Kate Colvin and 2024 Goalkeeper of the Year
Cece Racine. Racine was also named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Second Team All-Region last season.
