How It Happened: Southern Maine UMass Boston
- Both McIntosh and Melchionda worked their way out of first inning jams to start the game. The Huskies led off the game with back-to-back singles from senior Belle Snyder (Epping, N.H.) and Miner, but Melchionda got the next three hitters out in order to end the threat. In the bottom of the first, McIntosh overcame a bases loaded situation on a single, a walk and a fielding error to get the final two outs of the inning.
- The Huskies loaded the bases against Melchionda in the top of the third on a one-out single from senior Madi Day (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford Hills) and back-to-back walks, but the Beacons were able to turn two on a line-out double-play at third to keep the score 0-0.
- UMB scored first in the bottom of the third on four hits, including a two-run double from Amauri English, and an RBI single up the middle from Lauryn Bethea.
- Southern Maine took back two runs in the top of the fourth using a single from Paradis, a pair of fielder's choice plays and two costly infield errors from the Beacons. Day had an RBI in the inning for USM. In the home half of the fourth, McIntosh worked around an infield single and a walk to get two ground outs a fly out to keep the game at 3-2.
- After a pair of one-out singles from senior Meaghan Dufresne (Mattapoissett, Mass.) and Paradis loaded the bases for the Huskies, UMB made it two outs on one of Melchondia's three strikeouts in the game. However, a sharply hit ball to third from Snyder (that was scored an error) allowed the game-tying run to cross the plate for the Huskies. Keeping the bases loaded, Miner crushed her 14th double of the season to the gap in right field to clear the bases and give USM a 6-3 lead before UMB ended the innings.
- McIntosh turned in a one-two-three inning in the bottom of the fifth, and USM extended its lead to 8-3 with two nore runs in the top of the sixth. With one out, Mulcahy singled to left, and Paradis drew a two-out walk before Levasseur came through with a clutch two-out, two-run triple to the gap in right to bring home both Paradis and Mulcahy. The Beacons collected three hits in the bottom of the sixth off of McIntosh, including an RBI single to short from Hayley Krockta, but were unable to threaten for more.
- Following a quiet top of the seventh from the Huskies, McIntosh shut the door on the game with two fly outs and a ground out around an infield single for the 8-4 final.
