- In a competitive pitcher's duel, the Warriors scored their first run unearned in the bottom of the second inning. Maddie Sauve led off the inning with a double for ECSU, and scored on a throwing error following a sacrifice bunt attempt. After the run, Husky starter Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H./White Mountains Regional) recorded three consecutive outs on a sac bunt, and back-to-back strikeouts.
- ECSU grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Julia SanGiovanni doubled to the gap in left to start the Warriors, and moved up to third on a fly out from Sauve. SanGiovanni came around to score following an RBI single from Sarah Remillard.
- USM looked to make some noise in the top of the fifth with back-to-back walks earned from seniors Rona Scott (Beverly, Mass.) and Makena Mulcahy (Auburn, Mass.). The Huskies loaded the bases with one out after sophomore Olivia Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) also drew a walk, but Vilchez bounced back to get back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
- In the sixth, junior Abby Miner (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) led off the inning with a double for the Huskies, but was unable to advance as ECSU got the next three outs. And, in the top of the seventh, senior Meaghan Dufresne (Mattapoisett, Mass.) had a single up the middle.
- McIntosh pitched a strong game in the loss for the Huskies, holding ECSU to three hits and a single walk. She had three strikeouts.
Up Next:
