GORHAM, Maine – Fifty-one University of Southern Maine student-athletes were announced as part of the 2024 Little East Conference All-Academic Team for fall sports. Students from all eight of Southern Maine's Little East Conference sponsored teams have representatives on the academic squad: men's and women's soccer, field hockey, men's and women's cross country, golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
To be named to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least a full academic year.
Among the nine Little East Conference institutions, Southern Maine is fourth for the most student-athletes to achieve the academic distinction. The Huskies' 2024 Little East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship women's soccer program led the way with 17 student-athletes earning the honor. Huskies' field hockey (9), men's soccer (7) and men's cross country (6) were the next three teams with the highest number of representatives. Volleyball and women's cross country each had four recipients, while women's tennis and 2024 Little East Conference Championship golf team each had two selections.
Of the 51 All-Academic Team members from the University of Southern Maine, 41 had a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Eleven Huskies had a GPA of 3.9 or higher, including two student-athletes with a 4.0 grade point average: women's soccer student-athletes senior

Twenty-eight different University of Southern Maine majors are represented by the Huskies' All-Academic Team roster with Exercise Science (5), Health Science (4) and Biology (4) leading the way. Nursing (3), Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (3), and Psychology are also among the more popular majors..
Nine of the 51 members of the Little East Conference All-Academic team were also recognized with post-season honors from the LEC after their respective playing season. Among the program highlights three-time Defensive Player of the Year
Mia Sargent (Portland, Maine/Deering) of the women's soccer team, and four-time All-Little East Conference forward
Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) of the field hockey team. Sargent is finishing her degree in Biology, and Drinkwater is a Linguistics major.
Men's cross country fifth-year senior captain Jack Pecararo (Westbrook, Maine) finished his career as a three-time All-Little East Conference runner, while volleyball's Madi Zimmer (Regina, Saskatchewan/Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic) was named to the LEC All-Sportsmanship Team.
